Executive Summary

Hatem Naguib is Chief Executive Officer of Sysdig, the cloud security company founded by Loris Degioanni. He took the role and a board seat in June 2026, with Degioanni remaining as chief technology officer. Naguib arrived as an experienced operating chief executive: he ran Barracuda Networks as President and CEO from 2021 until he retired from that role in October 2025, having spent the previous five years running its security business and then its products, engineering and customer operations. Before Barracuda he led network and security products at VMware. He sits on the boards of Digi International and Corelight.

Career Highlights

  • Chief Executive Officer and board member of Sysdig since June 2026.
  • President and Chief Executive Officer of Barracuda Networks from August 2021 to October 2025, a period in which, by Barracuda-derived figures cited by Sysdig and Corelight, revenue roughly doubled to about $675 million.
  • Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of Products and Services at Barracuda from December 2018 to August 2021, and Senior Vice President and General Manager of its Security Business Unit from June 2016.
  • Vice President of Products, Network and Security at VMware from July 2012 to May 2016, where he helped scale the NSX network virtualization platform.
  • Director of Digi International since February 2019; also a director of Corelight.

Professional Journey

Naguib’s career before VMware is only lightly documented. Corelight’s board biography says he served as a vice president of global strategic partnerships with Cisco, HP and VCE, building ecosystem and go-to-market programmes across converged infrastructure and cloud platforms. It does not name the employer or give dates.

The documented record starts in July 2012, when he became Vice President of Products, Network and Security at VMware. That period covered the build-out of NSX, VMware’s network virtualization platform, which Sysdig describes as growing into a business of more than $600 million in revenue. He left in May 2016 and joined Barracuda Networks the following month as Senior Vice President and General Manager of its Security Business Unit.

He moved up quickly at Barracuda. In December 2018 he became Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of Products and Services, responsible for global product, engineering and customer operations as the company moved to a cloud-first architecture. In August 2021 he became President and Chief Executive Officer. Corelight’s biography says he led a multi-year shift to a platform-based, recurring-revenue security business, with several acquisitions and exits along the way. Digi International’s proxy records that he retired from the Barracuda role on 10 October 2025.

In February 2019, while still at Barracuda, he joined the board of Digi International, the publicly listed communications hardware company. He is also a director of Corelight.

Sysdig named him chief executive on 16 June 2026. Sysdig, founded in 2013 by Degioanni, built its business on runtime security for cloud and container workloads. At the time of the announcement it had just launched what it called the industry’s first headless cloud security platform, designed to run inside AI coding agents. “What drew me to Sysdig,” Naguib said, “is its unique combination of technical innovation, deep runtime expertise, and relentless focus on customer outcomes.”
