Executive Summary
Geoffrey Mattson is Chief Executive Officer of SecureAuth, an Irvine, California identity security company whose platform combines an AI-driven risk engine with continuous authentication for workforce and customer access. SecureAuth appointed him in December 2025 to take the company into what it sees as the next identity problem: AI agents that act with real authority on behalf of people and businesses. He is an engineer by background, with a master’s degree in computer science and patents in AI, cybersecurity and networking. His career runs from network architecture at Bay Networks and Juniper Networks, through co-founding the AI threat-detection company MistNet.ai, to two CEO roles in security, first at Xage Security and now at SecureAuth.
Career Highlights
- Appointed Chief Executive Officer of SecureAuth on 10 December 2025, succeeding Joseph Dhanapal.
- Led SecureAuth’s 2026 launch of the Agent Authority Platform, which authorizes every action an AI agent takes in real time, and the public opening of its Agent Trust Registry.
- CEO of Xage Security, the zero-trust security company for critical infrastructure, from September 2023 to April 2025.
- Co-founded and led MistNet.ai, an AI-driven threat detection platform acquired by LogRhythm.
- Led R&D and product organizations at the cloud security startups Corona and Caspian, and held general management and functional roles at Juniper Networks.
- Led architecture, industry standards and global go-to-market work on networking and telecommunications products at Bay Networks.
Professional Journey
Mattson started in networking and telecommunications. At Bay Networks he led architecture, industry-standards work and global go-to-market for product initiatives. SecureAuth’s account of his career also lists product and engineering leadership at Nortel, Huawei and Bell Labs, with work across Europe, Asia and the United States. He later worked at Juniper Networks in both general management and functional roles, and led R&D and product organizations at two network and security startups focused on cloud-based security services, Corona and Caspian.
He then co-founded MistNet.ai, an AI-driven cybersecurity platform for network threat detection, and served as its CEO until it was acquired by LogRhythm, the Thoma Bravo-owned security analytics company.
In September 2023 Xage Security named him CEO. Xage sells zero-trust access and protection for operational and critical-infrastructure environments, with customers in energy, federal government and defense. It announced his appointment together with 420% year-over-year revenue growth for the first half of 2023. Co-founder Duncan Greatwood, his predecessor, became executive chair. In April 2025 Greatwood resumed the CEO role and Mattson continued with the company as an advisor.
SecureAuth appointed him CEO in December 2025. Under his predecessor the company had built a new platform around its AI-driven risk engine, including continuous facial authentication during user sessions and a “Microperimeter Authorizer” that extends zero-trust controls to AI agents and automated workflows. Mattson’s brief is to turn that platform into growth as enterprises hand AI agents the power to read sensitive data, move money and change systems. In his first months SecureAuth opened its Agent Trust Registry, a free directory that rates widely used enterprise AI agents against a common security framework. It also launched the Agent Authority Platform and hired Mark van Oppen as chief revenue officer.
Education
SecureAuth states that he holds a master’s degree in computer science; the awarding institution was not found in any source reviewed.
