Professional Journey
Strum Silberstein studied business and sociology, with a minor in French, at Tulane University and graduated in 2005. She worked at a search engine optimisation agency and then joined her family’s company. Over the next fifteen years she rose from manager to director to Vice President of Marketing and Chief Strategy Officer. Along the way she took an MBA at NYU Stern and the Wine & Spirit Education Trust’s Advanced certification. Her work was mainly digital: SEO, email marketing, user experience and social media.
In June 2021 Wine Enthusiast Companies split its leadership into two parts. Jacqueline Strum became President and Publisher of Wine Enthusiast Media, which includes the magazine. Erika became President of Wine Enthusiast Commerce, running the catalog, wineenthusiast.com and wineexpress.com. The company said each sister would carry bottom-line responsibility for her own division while they worked to bring the two sides of the business closer together. It also said she would lead a three-year growth strategy for commerce.
Her most visible move since then has been a physical store. In December 2025 the company announced Wine Enthusiast NYC, a 1,465-square-foot shop at 27 Greene Street in SoHo, designed in-house and built with Leap Commerce. “This store represents the next chapter of Wine Enthusiast,” she said. She explained that customers want guidance, and that a shop gives them something they can touch alongside the online store. She told West Side Spirit that customers had needed to see the products in person, and that people were buying more large wine fridges there than she had expected. The company now describes itself as a family-owned Certified B Corporation.
