Professional Journey
Ben-Shushan, Alon Alroy and Boaz Katz started Bizzabo coming out of the Zell Entrepreneurship Program at IDC Herzliya in Israel. The company dates its founding to 2011. It began as software for professional event organizers and grew into a platform covering registration, event marketing, networking, mobile apps, onsite tools and reporting. Its offices are in New York and Tel Aviv, and it has also had teams in Kyiv and Montreal.
The COVID-19 pandemic shut down in-person conferences in 2020, the market Bizzabo had built for. The company moved into virtual and then hybrid events and shifted towards enterprise customers. In December 2020 it announced a $138 million Series E led by Insight Partners, with Viola Growth, Siemens’s investment arm Next47 and OurCrowd, and reported revenue growth of more than 100 percent over the previous year. “The future of professional events isn’t virtual-only,” Ben-Shushan said at the time, arguing that event technology had to move as quickly as the market. The company then had about 175 employees and planned to open two European offices.
The growth did not hold through the 2022 downturn. In July 2022 the three co-founders jointly announced a reorganisation that reduced headcount by close to 30 percent, saying that, like many companies, Bizzabo had to adjust its strategy to put financial efficiency first. They wrote that events would remain a vital part of the business world.
Since then Bizzabo has repositioned around AI. In March 2026 it introduced Bizzy, an AI attendee copilot. Gartner named it a Leader in its Magic Quadrant for Event Marketing and Management Platforms in consecutive years (announced June 2025) and a Visionary in the 2026 edition. In September 2026 Ben-Shushan hired KC Bolcome as Chief Revenue Officer to run new business, account management, customer support and professional services. He said she had “a strong point of view about where this industry is going.”
