Executive Summary

Eoin Hinchy is co-founder and CEO of Tines, the Irish company behind an intelligent workflow platform that began as automation for security teams and has broadened to IT, engineering and AI agents. He founded it in 2018 with Thomas Kinsella, a longtime colleague from the security teams at Deloitte, eBay and DocuSign, after both had watched skilled analysts spend most of their time on repetitive work. In February 2025 Tines raised a $125 million Series C led by Goldman Sachs Alternatives at a valuation of about $1.1 billion, making it one of Ireland’s few software unicorns. Its customers include Coinbase, McKesson, Canva, Databricks and MongoDB.

Professional Journey

Hinchy grew up near Galway and trained as an engineer, later taking a master’s in security and forensic computing at Dublin City University and an MBA at Imperial College London. He began his career as a software engineer on Deloitte’s security team and spent about 15 years in security operations. At eBay he was EMEA Lead for Global Threat Management when the company’s 2014 breach exposed 145 million records; he has described coming back from his honeymoon to it. He then joined DocuSign as Director of Information Security, leading its European security team.

Across those roles he and Thomas Kinsella saw capable teams spend most of their time on the same tasks over and over: triaging alerts, stitching tools together, checking compliance by hand. They found existing security workflow products rigid, complex and brittle, and in February 2018 launched Tines with the aim of letting non-developers build automations on a drag-and-drop storyboard.

Tines raised earlier rounds from investors including Accel, Addition and Felicis, and in 2024 added Workbench, which lets security teams use large language models securely on their own data. In February 2025 it raised a $125 million Series C led by Growth Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives at a valuation of about $1.1 billion. At that point it employed about 250 people across offices in Dublin, Boston, San Francisco and Australia. The platform now reaches beyond security into IT and engineering, and in July 2026 the company launched Tines 3B, an AI-native platform for building and governing enterprise workflows, applications and agents.
