Executive Summary

Ed Robinson is Co-CEO and co-founder of Stash, the subscription-based investing and banking app he started with Brandon Krieg in 2015 to make investing easy and affordable for ordinary Americans. A former Macquarie equities trader, he was Stash’s President for most of its first eight years, stepped back to spend a year as a venture investor while sitting on its board, and returned with Krieg as Co-CEO in October 2024. Since then the pair have led Stash to a $146 million Series H in 2025 and into a sale to Southeast Asian technology group Grab Holdings, which completed on 1 July 2026. Stash now operates as a Grab subsidiary under its own brand, with more than a million paying subscribers and over $5 billion in assets.

Career Highlights

  • Co-founded Stash with Brandon Krieg in 2015; Stash describes itself as an originator of fractional share investing that year.
  • President and co-founder of Stash, a title he kept when Liza Landsman became CEO in February 2023.
  • Returned with Krieg as Co-CEO in October 2024, after a year as a venture investor and Stash board member.
  • Co-CEO through the May 2025 Series H of $146 million, led by Goodwater Capital with Union Square Ventures, StepStone Group and others.
  • Co-CEO when Grab Holdings agreed in February 2026 to acquire Stash at a US$425 million enterprise value for the first 50.1%, a deal Grab completed on 1 July 2026.
  • Spent nearly a decade on Macquarie’s equity trading desks in London and New York, where he met Krieg.

Professional Journey

Robinson began his career giving financial advice to high-net-worth families, focusing on asset allocation. He then spent nearly a decade on equity trading desks at Macquarie, in London and New York according to Stash, and it was there that he met Brandon Krieg. Both, as Stash tells it, came away convinced that the systems for building wealth, investing above all, were stacked against everyday Americans.

In 2015 they left their jobs and founded Stash, starting with the idea that anyone should be able to begin investing with $5. It was an early mover in fractional share investing, later added debit-card stock rewards, its own banking infrastructure and StashWorks, a financial wellness benefit for employers, and moved to a flat monthly subscription. Robinson served as President through the company’s growth years, and by early 2023 Stash reported more than 2 million subscribers and over $100 million in annual revenue.

In February 2023 the founders brought in Liza Landsman, a former NEA general partner, as CEO. Krieg moved to a business development role and Robinson kept his title as President. He later stepped away from day-to-day management: when he returned in October 2024, he said he had spent “one year as a venture investor and also sitting on the Stash Board.” He and Krieg came back as Co-CEOs to lead a push around Stash’s AI Money Coach, by which point the company had reached an 80% gross margin and positive EBITDA for the first time.

The following May, Stash raised $146 million in a Series H led by Goodwater Capital. Robinson said then that “for a decade, Stash has helped millions take control of their financial futures.” In February 2026 Grab Holdings, the Singapore-based technology group, agreed to acquire Stash in stages. Grab would pay for 50.1% at closing, at an enterprise value of US$425 million, and buy the rest at fair market value over the following three years. Grab said Stash would remain a standalone U.S. brand led by its two Co-CEOs. In March 2026 Stash agreed to take on Stockpile’s children’s investing accounts as that company wound down; Robinson, as Co-CEO, said Stash was “proud to help carry that mission forward.” Grab completed the acquisition on 1 July 2026 and began consolidating Stash into its Financial Services segment. Stash’s executive page continues to list Robinson as Co-CEO and Co-Founder.
