Career Highlights

  • Chief Financial Officer of Electroimpact, as named in a Microsoft case study published in April 2025.
  • Spoke for the company on replacing its 20-year-old on-premises ERP with cloud-based Dynamics 365, which he said gave the business a single view of its sales pipeline.

Professional Journey

Electroimpact was founded in 1986 by Peter Zieve, who had just finished a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering at the University of Washington, to commercialise the low-voltage electromagnetic riveting technology from his doctoral research. It began near Boeing’s Everett plant as a machine-tool supplier to Boeing and grew into a large integrator of aircraft assembly lines. It now employs around 500 people, most of them degreed engineers, and has offices in the UK, France and Australia. The company has shared profits with employees since 1992. By the end of 2023 it had paid out more than $167 million that way.

Howell was Electroimpact’s Chief Operating Officer at the end of 2023. At the company’s December 2023 Christmas party, where it announced a $5.74 million profit share for the year, he spoke for Electroimpact as COO about the opportunities it offered engineers at every stage of their careers.

By April 2025 he was Chief Financial Officer. In that role he spoke about the company’s decision to replace a 20-year-old, highly customised on-premises ERP system with Microsoft Dynamics 365. He described Electroimpact as an engineer-to-order company whose pipeline is constantly shifting, and said the change had brought opportunity tracking into one place: “the visibility has been a huge win for us—it’s transformed how we plan and prioritize.” The COO role has since passed to Austin Clark, who holds it as of May 2026.
