By September 2025 the company had become a single brand again as Perkbox, with Butler as its CEO. Professional Journey
Butler’s early career was in infrastructure. He co-founded Latisys, an infrastructure-as-a-service provider, and served there as CFO and as President of its colocation services business. Zayo Group acquired Latisys in 2015.
He then moved into employee engagement software as CEO of Reward Gateway, an HR technology company that Great Hill Partners has described as a former portfolio company. He ran it for more than five years, a period Perkbox describes as one of significant growth, before the French benefits group Edenred acquired it. Great Hill later called him “a long-time executive working with Great Hill”.
In December 2023 Perkbox, then describing itself as the largest independent UK perks and benefits provider, appointed him CEO. His brief was to drive global growth, oversee product innovation and help client businesses support their employees at a time of cost-of-living pressure. In a letter to customers two months later he wrote that, after seven years in the employee engagement sector, he had been drawn back to a field “dedicated to supporting HR professionals both in and outside the workplace”.
In March 2024 Perkbox and Vivup announced they would combine, with Great Hill Partners investing. At the time, Vivup chief executive Simon Moyle was named Group CEO of the merged company and Butler Group executive chairman. Companies House records him as a director of group companies from 30 June 2024.
In September 2025 the group dropped the Perkbox Vivup name and relaunched as Perkbox. The new platform brought together the original Perkbox and Vivup products, the salary-sacrifice benefits business Let’s Connect and the counselling provider TERC in one app. The company said the combined business served more than four million employees across nearly 7,500 organisations. Announcing the launch as CEO of Perkbox, Butler said the aim was one platform offering solutions that are “accessible, impactful, used – and useful.”
