Executive Summary

Dave Glaser is Chief Operating Officer of NMI, the embedded payments infrastructure company that serves software platforms, independent sales organizations and banks. He arrived through acquisition: NMI announced in May 2026 that it was buying Dwolla, the account-to-account payments platform Glaser had run as CEO since 2023, and that he would join its executive leadership team as COO. His background is in the enterprise side of card acceptance, at Mastercard, Worldpay and CyberSource, before he moved to a smaller company working on bank-to-bank money movement, and the NMI deal effectively brought those two halves of payments together under one platform.

Career Highlights

  • Chief Operating Officer of NMI, following its acquisition of Dwolla, announced 19 May 2026, which NMI said created a combined business processing close to $700 billion in annual transaction volume.
  • CEO of Dwolla from September 2023, succeeding Brady Harris, as the company refocused on enterprise clients through its Connect product.
  • At Dwolla, led what NMI describes as an operational turnaround to Rule of 40 profitability and more than 30 percent annual growth.
  • Joined Dwolla in March 2021 as its first combined President and Chief Operating Officer.
  • Previously senior vice president of global acceptance solutions at Mastercard, leading new point-of-sale initiatives and acceptance products for acquirers and merchants.
  • Held senior roles at Worldpay and CyberSource during Worldpay’s IPO and $10.4 billion merger with Vantiv, and CyberSource’s $2 billion acquisition by Visa.

Professional Journey

Glaser spent the first two decades of his career in enterprise card payments. NMI’s biography of him names senior leadership roles at CyberSource, Worldpay and Mastercard, and ties them to three of the larger transactions in the sector: CyberSource’s $2 billion acquisition by Visa, and Worldpay’s IPO and its $10.4 billion merger with Vantiv. His last role in that part of the industry was senior vice president of global acceptance solutions at Mastercard, where he led new point-of-sale initiatives and acceptance products and solutions for acquirers and merchants.

In March 2021 he joined Dwolla, the Des Moines-based payments platform built on the ACH network, as President and Chief Operating Officer. He was the company’s first combined president and COO, and the first COO of any kind since 2016. Dwolla had come through 2020 without layoffs and was supporting more than $20 billion a year in payment volume; Glaser pointed at the time to the modernization of ACH and the arrival of real-time payments as the opportunity. By Dwolla’s account he spent his first years preparing the business to scale, working on enterprise growth strategy and customer onboarding, implementation and service.

In September 2023 Dwolla named him CEO, replacing Brady Harris. The change coincided with job cuts and a strategic turn toward enterprise customers through Connect, a product that lets businesses move money through their own bank relationships. American Banker reported at the time that Dwolla had processed about $45 billion in payments in 2022. NMI later credited his time as CEO with an operational turnaround that reached Rule of 40 profitability, more than 30 percent annual growth, and a trajectory toward $100 billion in annual transaction volume.

On 19 May 2026 NMI announced it had acquired Dwolla, its sixth acquisition in recent years, to add account-to-account transfers, real-time payments and open banking to its card acceptance platform. About 60 Dwolla employees moved to NMI, and Glaser joined NMI’s executive leadership team as Chief Operating Officer under chief executive Steve Pinado.

Outside work he is a former Ironman triathlete and a golfer.
