Executive Summary
Dan French is the chief executive and a co-founder of Consider Solutions, a City of London consultancy that has spent a quarter of a century on a single problem: how large enterprises keep financial control while their finance function is repeatedly rebuilt around new technology. The firm was incorporated in May 2000 and works at the intersection of finance process optimisation, risk and assurance, and compliance — the unglamorous machinery underneath enterprise resource planning programmes, shared-service centres and, more recently, automation and AI in the back office. What distinguishes French’s model is commercial rather than technical: Consider Solutions sells against outcomes and identified savings rather than billing days, which inverts the incentive structure of conventional systems-integration consulting. That positioning has kept a small independent firm in the room with clients the size of BT, BMW, Philips, AstraZeneca, Bombardier, Starbucks, Sony and UNICEF, and French himself in demand as a speaker and commentator on why technology-enabled transformation programmes create as much financial risk as they remove.
Career Highlights
- Co-founded Consider Solutions; the company was incorporated at Companies House on 5 May 2000 and remains active, registered at Sackville House, Fenchurch Street, London EC3M.

- Client base spans UNICEF, BT, BMW, Philips, AstraZeneca, Bombardier, Starbucks, Sony, Sonova and ARLANXEO.
- Serves as Vice President and General Manager for Europe at Intraspect Software during the early 2000s, running its European consulting and technology solutions business.
- Confirmed speaker at SSON’s Shared Services & Outsourcing Week 2026.

Professional Journey
French’s career began in enterprise software rather than in consulting. He worked at Sterling Software, the Dallas-headquartered systems-software house that was one of the significant independent enterprise vendors of the 1990s before its acquisition by Computer Associates in 2000, and subsequently at Avellino Technologies and Callisto Grand. The common thread across those roles was selling and delivering technology into large organisations, on the vendor side of the table — which is the vantage point from which the failure modes of big transformation programmes are most visible.
Around 2000 he took the role of Vice President and General Manager for Europe at Intraspect Software, running its European consulting and technology solutions business. Intraspect was a collaborative-knowledge software company of the first dot-com wave, and running its European operation meant building a delivery and services organisation from a standing start against American parent-company expectations. He is recorded in that role until roughly 2004.
Consider Solutions Limited was incorporated on 5 May 2000, and French is named as its co-founder alongside Tom Gruber, who remains with the firm as Chief Scientific Advisor. The overlap between the incorporation date and the Intraspect years is not explained in any source; what is clear is that by the mid-2000s Consider Solutions was his principal concern. The proposition he built it around was a reaction to what he had seen from the vendor side. Conventional consultancies were paid for effort — days billed, consultants deployed — which rewarded the length of a programme rather than its result. Consider Solutions instead ties its commercial terms to the efficiencies and savings actually identified, a model the firm describes as consultancy reimagined.
The practice itself concentrates on financial control and compliance, risk management and assurance, and finance process optimisation, packaged around a long-running theme of World Class Finance. In practice that means the control environment around ERP estates, access and segregation-of-duties risk, continuous controls monitoring, and the analytics needed to see what a finance process is actually doing rather than what its documentation says it does. It is deliberately positioned as the layer that large integrators skip.
French’s public work follows the same argument. He has written in Procurement Magazine on the financial risk as well as the reward of tech-enabled transformation — the case that automating a broken control is worse than leaving it manual — and APQC has profiled him as a process and performance thought leader. He is a recurring presence on the shared-services and global-business-services circuit, with a confirmed speaking slot at SSON’s Shared Services & Outsourcing Week in 2026, and has published presentation material on delivering world-class finance, on what makes a key performance indicator genuinely key, and on risk, control and compliance.
