Executive Summary

Chris Sprague is Chief Executive Officer of Leapfrog Technology, a Seattle-headquartered software engineering and cloud services company whose delivery teams sit mainly outside the United States, in Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, the UK and Switzerland. Leapfrog builds software products for startups and enterprises, with healthcare now at the centre of its pitch: it says more than 60% of its business is in regulated industries. Sprague has been the company’s public voice through a run of Amazon Web Services partner designations since 2024. Before Leapfrog’s own announcements named him, he was presenting himself as CEO of Persimmon Health, a digital health brand that Leapfrog ran and under which it published a podcast he hosted.

Career Highlights

  • Chief Executive Officer of Leapfrog Technology, quoted as CEO in the company’s press releases from March 2024 through September 2026.
  • Announced Leapfrog’s AWS Healthcare Competency in September 2026, which the company says covers more than 150 healthcare solutions it has delivered.
  • Led the company through AWS Advanced Tier Services Partner status (November 2024), Lambda and EKS service delivery designations (December 2024 and May 2025), and the Generative AI (July 2025) and DevOps (June 2026) Competencies.
  • Announced Leapfrog’s SOC 2 Type II compliance in March 2024.
  • As CEO of Persimmon Health, hosted Leapfrog’s Digital Health Community podcast from at least April 2022, interviewing digital health founders and investors.

Professional Journey

Leapfrog Technology describes itself as having been formed by “a team of seasoned founders, CTOs, product designers, and engineers”. Its most recent boilerplate gives a founding date of 2010 and a Seattle headquarters. The engineering base has long been in Kathmandu, where Nepali press counts it among the country’s most successful IT companies. OnlineKhabar, writing in February 2024, credited the company’s direction to “founders Himal Karmacharya, Chandika Bhandari and current CEO Chris Sprague”, which makes Sprague the chief executive but not one of the founders.

The first place his title can be dated is healthcare. From 2022, Leapfrog published a series called the Digital Health Community podcast under the Persimmon Health name. In it Sprague, introduced as “CEO of Persimmon Health”, interviewed angel investors, digital health founders and commentators about fundraising, wearables, claims automation and the post-COVID investment climate. The persimmonhealth.com domain now redirects to Leapfrog’s own site. By June 2023 the same podcast posts were calling him “our CEO”.

From March 2024, Leapfrog’s press releases name him as CEO of Leapfrog Technology itself. They follow a steady pattern of cloud credentials: SOC 2 Type II compliance that March; AWS Advanced Tier Services Partner status in November 2024, when Leapfrog described a team of 450 AWS experts across the US, Europe and Asia; service delivery designations for AWS Lambda and Amazon EKS; and Competencies in Generative AI, DevOps and, in September 2026, Healthcare. In that last announcement Sprague put the company’s case in commercial terms: “What our customers measure is faster care decisions, cleaner revenue cycles, and fewer hours their physicians spend on paperwork.” The company now says it has more than 500 people.

Leapfrog’s own material calls him “a serial entrepreneur with deep knowledge in Generative AI, Healthcare, and AWS”. It does not name his earlier ventures, and none is recorded here.
