Professional Journey
Tyler earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics with high honors at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a master’s degree and doctorate at the University of Chicago’s Department of Economics, where he studied under a National Science Foundation grant. He was a senior associate at Integral, Inc., specialising in healthcare consulting, before joining McKesson.
At McKesson he held leadership roles across U.S. Pharmaceutical, Medical-Surgical, Specialty Care and Distribution Solutions. He was Executive Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Business Development from 2012 to 2015, then President of North America Distribution and Services, and from 2016 led McKesson Europe. He returned as President and Chief Operating Officer in August 2018 and became Chief Executive Officer in April 2019. On 1 May 2026 he also became Chair of the Board.
He sits on the boards of Republic Services and the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Wholesalers, chairs the American Cancer Society’s North Texas chapter of CEOs Against Cancer, and serves on the Southern Methodist University Board of Trustees.
