Professional Journey

Currin graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a degree in economics and spent nearly ten years as a submarine officer and nuclear engineer, completing operational deployments around the world. His last Navy assignment was ashore in Charleston, South Carolina, managing the training, testing and maintenance of two Navy nuclear reactors.

Vantaca was launched in 2017 by people from the community association management industry who had grown frustrated with the software available to them; Dave Sweyer and chief information officer David Gunn built the product. Currin joined the leadership team in its first year. In 2018 he led the company’s strategic growth initiatives as Executive Vice President, and in 2019 he was promoted to Chief Operating Officer, responsible for scaling the team and business model. In July 2020 Sweyer, the company’s largest shareholder, named him Chief Executive Officer, noting that he had in practice already led the company for the preceding twelve months. At that point Vantaca had been adopted by just under 100 management companies serving more than a million homes.

As CEO he has pushed the company towards artificial intelligence. In November 2024 Vantaca announced at Vantaca Vision, its annual customer conference, that it had acquired HOAi, an AI technology provider for the HOA management sector, alongside an embedded research assistant called Scout; Currin called the deal “a game-changer in our mission to build the future of community management.” In October 2025 the company announced a minority growth investment of more than $300 million led by Cove Hill Partners, at a valuation of $1.25 billion, with JMI Equity continuing as an existing investor. By then Vantaca said it served more than 500 management companies representing six million households, and had grown revenue 95% over the previous year. Currin said the investment “validates what our customers and industry partners already know, which is that Vantaca is defining the future of community management through AI-native automation.”
