Andy White
Founder and CEO · Closinglock
Andy White co-founded Closinglock in Austin in 2017 with his wife Abigail after a conversation about how routinely title companies email wire instructions — the exact weakness that business email compromise exploits in property closings. The company began as wire-fraud prevention and has grown into a platform covering secure communication, identity verification and payments for title agents, attorneys and lenders. It has raised $50 million across three rounds, secured more than $500 billion of transaction value across over a million home sales, and reports preventing more than 8,250 fraud attempts.

Executive Summary
Andy White co-founded Closinglock in Austin in 2017 with his wife, Abigail, after the two discussed how casually the title industry handled wire instructions — emailed in plain text to buyers who had no way to verify them. That is precisely the gap business email compromise exploits, and in a property closing the amount at stake is usually a family’s entire down payment. Closinglock started by giving title companies a secure channel to deliver and verify wire instructions, then expanded into identity verification, eSigning and payment processing, so that the whole closing communication chain sits inside one verified system rather than in email. The company has raised $50 million across three rounds, has secured more than $500 billion of transaction value across over a million home sales, and reports stopping more than 8,250 fraud attempts with an estimated $1.24 billion of losses avoided. White holds a doctorate in engineering and worked as a computer engineer, including at Samsung, before founding the company.

Professional Journey
White’s background is engineering rather than real estate. He took a bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate at Auburn University in computer and electrical engineering, then worked as a computer engineer at several technology companies — Samsung among them, along with a startup that raised more than $100 million.
The founding of Closinglock came from a domestic conversation rather than market research. In 2017 White and his wife Abigail were discussing email spoofing, and the realisation that title agents routinely sent wire instructions by unauthenticated email turned into the product thesis. The founding problem was narrow and acute: a single spoofed message diverting a closing wire can take a buyer’s entire savings, and neither the title company nor the buyer had a reliable way to confirm the instructions were genuine.
The first product addressed that directly, and the company spent its early years selling into title companies and real estate law firms — a conservative, relationship-driven market. By August 2022 Closinglock had raised $4 million with LiveOak Venture Partners and was doubling headcount out of Austin. Over the following three years the business grew close to twenty-five-fold.
The strategic expansion was from prevention into transaction infrastructure. Rather than remaining a point solution bolted onto the closing process, Closinglock added identity verification, eSigning, and payment rails — the Good Funds product moves closing money directly, and a J.P. Morgan partnership widened the payment services available. A Docusign integration brought the platform into the document workflow title agents already used. White has framed the ambition in terms of the roughly $2 trillion of annual US home transactions, positioning the company as the verification and payment layer for that flow rather than as an anti-fraud add-on.
The $34 million Series B in January 2025, led by Sageview Capital, funded that broader platform push. By then Closinglock was reporting more than a million home sales secured, over $500 billion in protected transaction value, and 400,000-plus identity reports generated in 2024 alone.
