Professional Journey
Kale’s background is in building enterprise software. At Fujitsu America he was vice president of applications, responsible for the strategy, product management and delivery of Fujitsu’s mission-critical applications and infrastructure for enterprise, mobile and commerce customers.
He went on to co-found AppZen with Kunal Verma. The company’s starting premise was that finance teams audit only a sample of expenses and invoices because checking everything by hand is too expensive, and that AI could instead review all of them for compliance, errors and fraud. AppZen’s SEC filings trace its growth as a venture-backed company: five Form D filings from 2016 to 2019, the last recording a $50 million offering. That filing lists Kale and Verma as executive officers and directors, with the company based in San Jose.
As CEO, Kale describes his job as developing the product vision, building the team and running execution. In his writing and interviews he has followed the company’s shift from anomaly detection to AI that acts. In late 2025 he described an arms race in which AI-generated fake receipts and altered documents are set against systems trained to catch them, noting that “the skill barrier has collapsed”. AppZen’s more recent argument, which he makes on its blog, is for agents that follow auditable standard operating procedures and escalate to humans when needed, so that finance teams can scale without losing control.
Education
University of Mumbai
MBA, Finance
His published bios also state that he holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering (one version says finance and engineering); the institution is not named.
