Professional Journey
Rangan studied engineering, earning a bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering and a master’s in computer engineering. She then took a full-time MBA at the University of California, Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, graduating in 2003.
She spent the early part of her career at SAP, in several customer-facing leadership roles in strategy, pre-sales and value-based selling, where HubSpot says she helped close landmark deals. HubSpot hired her in January 2020 as its first chief customer officer, with the marketing, sales and service teams reporting to her. In September 2021 she succeeded Brian Halligan as Chief Executive Officer and President and joined the board. Halligan became Executive Chairperson and remains a director, and HubSpot’s board is now chaired by independent director Lorrie Norrington. The company’s other co-founder, Dharmesh Shah, remains Chief Technology Officer.
Outside HubSpot, she sat on the board of Splunk from April 2023 until Cisco completed its acquisition of the company in March 2024, and she serves on the board of the Haas School of Business at Berkeley.
