Professional Journey
Angrick graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame with a BBA in 1990, the same year he earned his CPA certificate, and took an MBA at Northwestern’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management in 1995. He then joined Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown, working in its Consumer and Business Services Investment Banking Group from 1995 to 1999.
In 1999 he co-founded the company that became Liquidity Services. It was incorporated in Delaware as Liquidation.com in November of that year, and he has been Chairman and Chief Executive Officer since January 2000. The founding idea was to use e-commerce to handle the growing volume of surplus assets and returned goods moving through retail, industrial and public-sector supply chains — material that sellers wanted to recover value from without running their own liquidation operations.
The company today operates a set of marketplaces rather than a single site. GovDeals serves government sellers; AllSurplus lists industrial assets such as heavy equipment, manufacturing, oil and gas, biopharma and electronics; and its retail business handles returned and excess consumer goods, including a local pick-up channel and Retail Rush, a direct-to-consumer bin-store format launched in fiscal 2025. It earns money from seller and buyer transaction fees, from goods it buys and resells itself, and from value-added services. Registered buyers rose from 5.5 million to 6.0 million during fiscal 2025.
Angrick sits on the board as a non-independent director, with the roles of chairman and chief executive combined; the board says it values the knowledge he has built over more than a quarter-century running the company. He and family trusts hold a significant block of the company’s stock.
Outside Liquidity Services, his biography on the Persimmon Capital Partners website describes him as an investor and advisor across e-commerce, technology, business services and non-profits. It says he is a longstanding member of the Notre Dame Mendoza College of Business Advisory Council, serves on the executive committee of the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the National Capital Area, is a trustee of Georgetown Preparatory School, and has been involved in historic preservation projects.
