Executive Summary

Walter Sledz is a senior executive at NinjaTrader, the Chicago futures trading platform and brokerage that Kraken agreed to acquire for $1.5 billion in March 2025. NinjaTrader describes him as President, Revenue and Client Services, a role he reached after starting at the company in sales and client onboarding. He is also registered with the National Futures Association as President and an approved principal of NinjaTrader Clearing LLC, the futures commission merchant through which the business clears its customers’ trades. His career at the company is best traced through that registry, which shows him moving up from associated person to principal across each of the group’s regulated brokerage entities.

  • Registered as an associated person of NinjaTrader Brokerage LLC in November 2016 and approved as its principal in February 2021.

Professional Journey

Sledz came to NinjaTrader after more than a decade in advertising and sales, drawn, the company says, by his interest in finance and by the firm’s potential for growth. He started in sales and client onboarding, the front door of a brokerage that sells trading software and futures accounts to retail traders, and moved on into client services and business development.

The National Futures Association’s registry tracks the regulatory side of that progression. He was registered as an associated person of NinjaTrader Brokerage LLC in November 2016 and was approved as a principal of that firm in February 2021. After NinjaTrader bought Tradovate, the online futures brokerage, for $115 million in January 2022, he was registered with Tradovate LLC as well, and approved as its principal in February 2023. He was registered with NinjaTrader Clearing LLC in November 2024 and approved as a principal there in December 2024, and his registrations with the two older entities were withdrawn in early 2025. The NFA lists him as the clearing firm’s President, alongside its chief compliance officer and chief financial officer.

By October 2024 NinjaTrader was presenting him as President, Revenue and Client Services. In a company interview he described how the firm separates trade desk support from platform support so customers reach the right resource quickly, and how its culture and hybrid working model shape service quality. He also pointed to the introduction of CME Group’s micro futures contracts as a turning point that lowered the barrier to entry for retail futures traders.

In March 2025 Kraken announced an agreement to acquire NinjaTrader for $1.5 billion, and Kraken’s reported results include NinjaTrader from 1 May 2025. NinjaTrader Clearing LLC remains an approved NFA member, with Sledz still listed as its President.
