Professional Journey
MacCarrick studied at Clarkson University, earning a BS in Accounting and an MBA in Finance. He joined Xerox in 1988 and stayed for two decades. Over that time he held a series of financial management positions, among them Chief Financial Officer for Xerox Europe. By the time he left in 2008 he was a Corporate Vice President and Vice President of Finance for Xerox North America.
In July 2008 he became Corporate Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Crane Co., the diversified industrial manufacturer. His remit covered finance, accounting, internal control, audit, compliance, treasury, tax, investor relations, M&A due diligence, and environmental health and safety. In June 2010 he moved from finance into operations as Chief Operating Officer of De Lage Landen, the asset-finance company. There he ran operations, product and service delivery, and local in-country sales for DLL Global Vendor Finance.
He returned to the CFO role in July 2013, when QlikTech appointed him Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer. Qlik was then a NASDAQ-listed business intelligence software company, which moved him from industrials and finance into enterprise software. He signed Qlik’s periodic reports as principal financial officer through at least its 2015 annual report. project44 later listed OutSystems, the low-code development platform, as the last company he worked for before it hired him.
In May 2023 project44, the Chicago supply-chain visibility platform, named him Chief Financial Officer. In August 2025 Island hired him as CFO. Island was co-founded by CEO Mike Fey and CTO Dan Amiga. Its product is a browser built for enterprise control: it enforces security, data protection and secure AI usage at the last mile on the endpoint, rather than in network appliances. Announcing the appointment, MacCarrick said Island “sits at the intersection of two major enterprise priorities: securing data and empowering users.”
