Executive Summary

Spring Xu Rouhana is Chief Financial Officer of eyeo, the German company behind Adblock Plus and AdBlock and the Acceptable Ads programme, which now positions itself as a privacy company for online advertising. She joined in August 2024 and is based in the Indianapolis area rather than at eyeo’s German offices. Most of her career has been in finance for growth companies. She was Executive Vice President and CFO of agriculture AI company IntelinAir and CFO of DemandJump in Indianapolis. Before that she worked in US technology finance at WageWorks and Western Digital, where eyeo says she had leadership roles in secondary offerings and M&A transactions. She joined eyeo about a year before a change of CEO and a restructuring of the company.

Career Highlights

  • Chief Financial Officer of eyeo since August 2024, named by the company as “the group’s Chief Financial Officer”.
  • Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of IntelinAir, maker of the AGMRI crop-intelligence platform, from September 2021. eyeo credits her there with scaling the business, fundraising, an acquisition and post-acquisition integration.
  • Chief Financial Officer of DemandJump in Indianapolis.
  • Co-founder of Apogee Risk Management in the San Francisco Bay Area.
  • Vice President of Finance at EtaGen and at WageWorks, and senior roles at Western Digital.

Professional Journey

Rouhana took a bachelor’s degree in International Business Administration at the University of International Business and Economics and an MBA in finance at Thunderbird School of Global Management. She began in controller and financial planning and analysis roles. By 2021, IntelinAir said she had more than 20 years of experience in financial reporting, internal controls and financial analysis at public and private companies, and that she had completed certifications as a Certified Management Accountant, Certified Financial Manager and Certified Public Accountant.

Her roles also included Vice President of Finance at WageWorks and at EtaGen, Inc., and senior positions at Western Digital. eyeo says that at WageWorks and Western Digital she held leadership roles in secondary offering and M&A transactions and built finance teams aligned to long-term strategy. She also co-founded Apogee Risk Management in the Bay Area.

She then became Chief Financial Officer of DemandJump in Indianapolis. In September 2021 IntelinAir, whose AGMRI platform analyses aerial, satellite and drone imagery to alert farmers to problems in their fields, appointed her Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at its Indianapolis headquarters. According to eyeo, she played a critical role there in scaling the business, fundraising, an acquisition and the integration that followed.

eyeo named her group Chief Financial Officer on 9 August 2024. At the time she reported to CEO Frank Einecke, who said her background included scaling organisations to multi-billion-dollar revenue and valuations. eyeo was founded in 2011 as the business side of Adblock Plus. Its filtering technology powers ad blockers including Adblock Plus and AdBlock, and its Acceptable Ads programme reached 400 million users in 2025.

Within a year the company changed direction. In July 2025 eyeo named Dr. Douglas de Jager, who had joined as CTO in late 2024, as CEO in place of Einecke. De Jager called the move “a re-founding” around privacy, including blocking third-party tracking and fingerprinting, and the company said it would reduce the size of its team while continuing to invest in its profitable core business. Rouhana remains Chief Financial Officer on eyeo’s management team under de Jager.
