Vance earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, according to Lowe’s. He was an executive team lead at Target and then joined The Home Depot, where he held store manager and district manager roles and became Mid-Atlantic regional vice president; the 10-K dates his Home Depot service from February 2001 to May 2018.

He joined Lowe’s in May 2019 as a division president responsible for sales, service and operations across all stores in the North division.
