Professional Journey

Vreeswyk studied at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, graduating with two honours degrees, one in business administration and one in computer science. That combination fits the rest of his career, which has moved between finance, marketing and technology.

His early career took two different directions. At KPMG he worked in the audit practice, specialising in public sector and information technology companies. At the Coca-Cola Company he worked in marketing rather than finance, managing the Coca-Cola Trademark and Minute Maid brand portfolios for the Canadian market. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant.

He joined Magnet Forensics in 2013. The company had been started a few years earlier by Jad Saliba, a former police officer who had built tools to recover internet evidence from computers, together with Adam Belsher, a former Research In Motion executive. It grew into a developer of digital investigation software for law enforcement, government and corporate customers, and became a public company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the ticker MAGT. In January 2023 it agreed to be acquired by a vehicle controlled by the software investment firm Thoma Bravo, and the plan of arrangement closed on 6 April 2023, taking the company private. The same year Magnet and Grayshift, the maker of the Graykey mobile-device access tool, came together under the Magnet Forensics name.

Magnet now names him Chief Financial Officer, responsible for the development and execution of its financial and operational strategies, including forecasting, financial planning, accounting and business operations. The company reports more than 5,000 customers in over 100 countries and offices in Waterloo and Ottawa in Canada, Atlanta and Herndon in the United States, and Singapore. He sits on a leadership team led by chief executive Adam Belsher.
