Milind Joshi
Co-Founder & CTO · WorkSpan
Milind Joshi is co-founder and chief technical officer of WorkSpan, a partner revenue platform that lets companies co-sell with cloud hyperscalers, global systems integrators and ISV partners by sharing pipeline and opportunity data between them rather than emailing spreadsheets. He founded the company with Mayank Bawa and Amit Sinha after a career in large-scale data engineering, including a period leading engineering at the analytic database company Aster Data Systems.

Executive Summary
Milind Joshi is co-founder and chief technical officer of WorkSpan, which builds the software layer that lets companies sell jointly with their partners. The problem is deceptively mundane and structurally hard: when a software vendor co-sells a deal with AWS, a global systems integrator and an ISV partner, four organisations each hold part of the truth about that opportunity in four separate CRMs, and none of them can see the others’ records. WorkSpan operates as shared infrastructure between those systems, so that partner pipeline, opportunities and marketplace transactions can be exchanged and reconciled across company boundaries without either side exposing its whole CRM. Joshi founded the company with Mayank Bawa and Amit Sinha, and owns the technical side of a problem that is fundamentally about data federation and trust between rival organisations.
Career Highlights
- Co-founded WorkSpan with Mayank Bawa, now chief executive, and Amit Sinha, now president, and has served as chief technical officer throughout.
- Built the platform now marketed as WorkSpan AI, which the company reports carries $542 billion in secured partner pipeline, 578,000 shared opportunities and $78 billion of exchanged pipeline.
- WorkSpan raised a $30 million Series C led by Insight Partners in 2022, part of roughly $66 million in total disclosed funding that also includes Mayfield and Redline Capital Management.
- The platform is used by companies including Boomi, Palo Alto Networks, Wipro, GlobalLogic and Deloitte, and integrates with the AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft partner ecosystems as well as with SAP, MongoDB and Databricks.
- Previously Director of Engineering at Aster Data Systems, the analytic database company later acquired by Teradata, and a consultant software engineer at Dell EMC.
Professional Journey
Joshi’s career before WorkSpan was in data infrastructure at scale. At Aster Data Systems he was a director of engineering; Aster built a massively parallel analytic database that combined SQL with MapReduce-style processing, aimed at analytic workloads too large for conventional data warehouses, and was eventually acquired by Teradata. Earlier he worked as a consultant software engineer at Dell EMC, in storage. Both are systems-engineering environments where correctness, scale and the mechanics of moving large volumes of data between systems are the whole job.
That lineage runs directly into WorkSpan. Mayank Bawa, WorkSpan’s chief executive, was a co-founder of Aster Data, and the company is in effect an Aster alumni venture — a founding team that had already built distributed data infrastructure together, turning to a different kind of distributed data problem.
The problem they chose is partner revenue. Enterprise software increasingly sells through ecosystems rather than direct: the cloud hyperscalers’ marketplaces, global systems integrators, and ISV alliances now originate or influence an enormous share of large deals. But the operational machinery for that never existed. Each company’s CRM is a closed system built on the assumption that the opportunity belongs to one organisation, and co-selling breaks that assumption in every direction at once. Partner teams reconcile by spreadsheet and email, which means nobody can forecast partner-sourced revenue with any confidence, and marketplace transactions and incentive claims are tracked by hand.
WorkSpan’s answer is a shared network rather than another CRM. Each participant connects its own systems; the platform maps and exchanges only the records both sides have agreed to share, keeping identity and permissions consistent across organisational boundaries. Getting that right is the technical substance of Joshi’s role — it is a data federation problem with an adversarial edge, because the parties sharing pipeline are frequently competitors elsewhere. The platform has since been extended with AI agents for partnership operations and seller activation, and is marketed today as WorkSpan AI.
Commercially the company has grown through the hyperscaler ecosystems, raising a $30 million Series C led by Insight Partners in 2022 on around $66 million of total disclosed funding, and counting Boomi, Palo Alto Networks, Wipro, GlobalLogic and Deloitte among its customers.
