Executive Summary
Kyle Henderson is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Vizion, which delivers real-time ocean container tracking through an API covering 98% of carriers. The problem is unglamorous and enormous: most of world trade moves in shipping containers, and finding out where any particular container actually is has traditionally meant logging into individual carrier websites, each with its own format, login, and definition of what an event means. There was no single programmatic way to ask. Henderson encountered this while working at the supply chain planning company ClearMetal, and founded Vizion in 2018 with his co-founder and CTO Tyler Hughes, whom he had worked alongside there.

Professional Journey
Henderson studied philosophy at Berry College and built a career in product rather than engineering or sales, working across nine early-stage technology companies in product management, development and design. His named roles include NAVTEQ and Nokia, both in digital mapping and location data — an early grounding in the problem of representing physical movement as usable data — as well as Fullstory, the digital experience analytics company, and ClearMetal, which built supply chain planning software.
ClearMetal is where the company began. Working on supply chain planning software meant confronting a foundational obstacle: the planning models were only as good as the data underneath them, and the data about where containers actually were did not exist in any usable form. Ocean carriers publish tracking information, but each does so differently, through its own portal, with its own event vocabulary and its own notion of what constitutes an arrival. A freight forwarder or cargo owner tracking hundreds of containers across a dozen carriers was left checking websites by hand or building fragile scrapers.
Henderson and Tyler Hughes founded Vizion in 2018 to solve that as infrastructure rather than as an application. The product is an API: a single programmatic interface returning normalized, standardized container tracking events across 98% of ocean carriers, so that cargo owners, freight forwarders, and other software providers can build on reliable data rather than assembling it themselves. The API-first choice is what distinguishes the company from visibility platforms with dashboards — Vizion’s customers include software companies embedding the data in their own products.
The company has processed hundreds of millions of tracking events across millions of shipments and raised early funding of $3.25 million to build out carrier coverage.
