Enmacc came out of the energy trading desk. In a 2019 interview, co-founder Volker Puck said he had worked as a trader for years and knew the market’s daily problems in detail. He described the company as founded by himself and Marc Trieschmann together with CTO Kai Schlegel and CEO Jens Hartmann. The platform they built is based on request-for-quote trading, with real-time pricing and post-trade automation.

Schlegel has been the company’s CTO since at least 2019, when Puck described him that way. The company was founded in 2016. By 2019 Enmacc had rebuilt its trading interface, which it calls entender, and added automated trading processes for suppliers. That year it raised a EUR 7 million Series A led by Piton Capital, a London investor that focuses on businesses with network effects. The company has since added a UK subsidiary, Enmacc UK Limited in London, and environmental products such as guarantees of origin, REGOs and emissions allowances, along with clearing and post-trade automation.

He remains CTO. Enmacc’s managing directors are Jens Hartmann, Volker Puck, Marc Trieschmann and Dr. Florian Endter, and technology leadership sits with Schlegel alongside a Head of Development and an Engineering Fellow.
