Executive Summary
Jon Gingrich is Chief Executive Officer of Echosens North America, the US business of the French company that makes FibroScan, a point-of-care system that measures liver stiffness and fat without a biopsy. He has led the North American business since August 2019 and sits on the global leadership team of Echosens, alongside Group CEO Romain Baujard. He is a commercial operator rather than a scientist-founder. Before Echosens he was chief commercial officer of AxoGen, held global general management and marketing roles at Hologic, and spent 15 years at Boston Scientific, including running its cardiac rhythm management business in Japan. He now leads the company in the US as newly approved treatments for fatty liver disease raise demand for non-invasive testing.

Professional Journey
Gingrich started in sales and marketing at Unilever before moving into medical devices at Boston Scientific, where he stayed for 15 years. He began in the Endoscopy business unit and then took a series of international roles: Director of Marketing and Sales in Japan, Director of International Sales Operations and Training, General Manager of Cardiac Rhythm Management of Japan, and Vice President of International Commercialization for Cardiac Rhythm Management.
He then joined Hologic, the women’s health and diagnostics company, as Group Global Vice President of Marketing for Breast and Skeletal Health Solutions, and later became Global Vice President and General Manager of Skeletal Health Solutions. After Hologic he was chief commercial officer of AxoGen, a publicly traded company working in peripheral nerve repair.
Echosens named him CEO of Echosens North America in August 2019, in an announcement made by founder Laurent Sandrin. The role covers the US strategy for increasing use of FibroScan in chronic liver disease, and he joined the company’s global leadership team. Echosens was founded in Paris in 2001 on Sandrin’s doctoral work in transient elastography. That technique became FibroScan, which the company says is now available in more than 127 countries.
His recent public statements track a shift in the US market. In July 2025 Echosens announced that United Digestive, a gastroenterology practice management group in the Southeast, had rolled FibroScan out across 11 clinics. In August 2025, after the FDA approved Novo Nordisk’s Wegovy as the first GLP-1 therapy for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), Echosens announced a stronger partnership with Novo Nordisk on awareness and early diagnosis. In that release Gingrich argued that as treatment options grow, so does the need for reliable point-of-care tests to find steatotic liver disease earlier and track how patients respond to treatment. The company’s 2025 North American releases are datelined Westborough, Massachusetts.
