McCallion earned a BS in accounting from Syracuse University and an MBA from the Wharton School, and MetLife says he is a certified public accountant. He spent ten years in PricewaterhouseCoopers’ insurance audit practice, working with life and property and casualty insurers, before joining MetLife in July 2006.

At MetLife he was vice president and chief financial officer of the investments department, head of investor relations from 2011 to 2012 and chief financial officer of the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, based in London, from 2012 to 2016. From July 2016 he was executive vice president and treasurer.
