Bonner earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering at Queen’s University Belfast and master’s degrees in advanced chemical engineering and petroleum engineering at Imperial College London. She began her career offshore as a petroleum engineer in the UK in 1998 and held engineering, operations and subsurface roles there, followed by asset management and planning roles in Thailand and Kazakhstan.
