Executive Summary

Dan MacLachlan is Chief Financial Officer of red violet, the Nasdaq-listed identity intelligence company in Boca Raton, Florida. He has held the job since the company was formed in August 2017, took it through its 2018 spin-off from Fluent, and has also been its principal accounting officer since November 2019. Most of his career has been spent as CFO of the same group of South Florida data businesses, through two changes of ownership: TLO, whose assets TransUnion acquired in 2013, and the business that became Fluent and then red violet. Before that he was a finance chief in cancer-therapy research, and before that an FBI Special Agent. Few CFOs of data and investigations businesses have that background.

  • Chief Financial Officer of JARI Research Corporation, a Mayo Clinic partnership in targeted radioactive cancer therapy, from 2005 to 2009.

Professional Journey

MacLachlan began his career in law enforcement. As a Special Agent with the FBI he specialised in criminal investigations of public corruption and civil rights violations. The company describes that work as covering government fraud, election fraud, foreign corrupt practices, hate crimes and human trafficking.

From 2005 to 2009 he was Chief Financial Officer of JARI Research Corporation, a partnership with the Mayo Clinic developing cancer treatment based on targeted radioactive therapy. In 2009 he became CFO of TLO, an information solutions provider, and held the role from its inception until December 2013. In that month TransUnion Risk and Alternative Data Solutions (TRADS) acquired substantially all of TLO’s assets, and MacLachlan stayed on as Director of Finance and CFO under TransUnion.

He then joined the team that went on to build Fluent and red violet. He was CFO of The Best One, Inc. (TBO) from October 2014 to February 2015. TBO is now IDI Holdings, a red violet subsidiary. He was CFO of Fluent from March 2016. From April 2015 to April 2016 he also sat on the board of Vapor Corp as an independent director and chaired its audit and compensation committees.

Red Violet, Inc. was formed in August 2017 to hold the data and analytics business, and MacLachlan has been its CFO from the start. The company was spun off from Fluent in March 2018 and listed on Nasdaq under RDVT. He became principal accounting officer as well in November 2019. In August 2026 it closed an underwritten public offering of about 1.9 million shares at $60 each, raising net proceeds of about $108.6 million. He is one of four executive officers the company names in its SEC filings, alongside Chairman and CEO Derek Dubner, President James Reilly and CIO Jeffrey Dell.
