Professional Journey
Raymond earned a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering at the University of Illinois and an MBA at the University of California, Irvine. He joined Boeing in 1986 as an engineer at its Long Beach, California operation.
Within Boeing Defense, Space & Security he was vice president and general manager of several businesses, in integrated missile defense, sensors and signals intelligence and undersea capability, and vice president of global business development and strategy. From 2015 to 2018 he was the first vice president and general manager of Autonomous Systems, a division focused on autonomous aviation and marine technologies and intelligence capabilities.
He moved to enterprise strategy in April 2019 as vice president of sustainability, strategy and corporate development, and in October 2020 became senior vice president and Boeing’s first chief sustainability officer, responsible for its approach to aerospace sustainability, stakeholder engagement and reporting.
In January 2024 he became executive vice president and president and chief executive of Boeing Global Services, and he sits on the company’s Executive Council. Boeing builds commercial airplanes and defense, space and security systems and provides aerospace services, and employs about 182,000 people, according to the company. He is an associate fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and a fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, and serves on the University of Illinois Aerospace Engineering Board, the Wolf Trap Foundation board and the George W. Bush Institute Advisory Council.
He runs one of Boeing’s three businesses, alongside Stephanie Pope at Commercial Airplanes and Steve Parker at Defense, Space & Security. Pope led Global Services immediately before him, from 2022 to 2023.
