Campbell joined The Home Depot in 1985 as a cashier in South Florida. She went on to serve as store manager, district manager and regional vice president, and as vice president of operations, of merchandising and special orders, of retail marketing and sales for Home Depot Direct, and of vendor services from 2005 to 2009. She earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and an MBA at Georgia State University.
From 2009 to 2016 she was President of the Southern Division. She then led U.S. stores as Executive Vice President from 2016, adding international operations in 2020, when she also took on supply chain, merchandising, sourcing and strategy for The Home Depot Canada and The Home Depot Mexico. She became Senior Executive Vice President in November 2023.
In August 2026 the board chose her and Chief Financial Officer Richard McPhail to oversee the Office of the CEO during the chief executive’s temporary leave, with Campbell responsible for day-to-day operations. She serves on the board of the Georgia Aquarium.
