Professional Journey
Villa’s career has stayed inside insurance software. At Applied Systems, the insurance agency management software company, he was EVP of Product Management and Marketing and, according to OneShield, helped sell the company to Vista Equity Partners. He then spent fifteen years as chief executive of Policy Processing Systems Corporation, a spinout of Applied focused on core systems for insurers. There he modernised the core systems business and started two subsidiaries, one in systems integration and one in business process outsourcing, and the business grew roughly tenfold before being sold to a publicly traded software company. OneShield’s own announcement of his appointment summarises this period differently, as fifteen-plus years as CEO of Insuresoft followed by time at Volaris Group.
He joined OneShield in January 2024 as President of OneShield Enterprise. The company runs two platforms, OneShield Enterprise and OneShield Market Solutions, serving carriers and MGAs across commercial, personal and specialty lines. In July 2025 he became chief executive. Cameron Parker, CEO since Pacific Lake Partners partnered with him and Brandon Parker to acquire the company in 2020, became Operating Chairman with responsibility for acquisitions; Pacific Lake said revenue had tripled under Parker. Liza Petrie succeeded Villa at OneShield Enterprise, Brandon Parker remained Chief Operating Officer and Rex Blazevich continued to lead OneShield Market Solutions.
On taking over, Villa set out the priorities as intelligent automation, AI-driven development and self-service for insurers, alongside the company’s existing push to make customers into advocates. OneShield now sells an AI Hub alongside its core systems.
Outside OneShield he sits on the boards of Dream Payments and Transco Products. His company biography says he plays pickleball, likes to travel and goes to college football and basketball games.
