Professional Journey

Arnett studied at the University of Texas, graduating from its communications school, now the Moody College of Communication.

He spent most of the following decade as CEO of Blue Sombrero, which Vantaca describes as a market-leading youth sports management platform. Vantaca says he guided the company through successful exits in 2012 and 2019, and securities filings show both. Blue Sombrero, LLC, a Georgia company, is among the subsidiaries Dick’s Sporting Goods listed in its annual report filed in March 2013. On 22 August 2019 Dick’s completed the sale of Blue Sombrero and a second youth sports technology business, Affinity Sports, to Stack Sports for $45 million.

In 2021 he joined the mobile startup MOJO Sports as Chief Customer Officer. There he developed the go-to-market strategy and built the sales, customer success, support and partnership teams. The business was acquired in December 2023.

Vantaca hired him in January 2025 as Chief Strategy Officer, responsible for long-term strategy and market expansion. He was one of four executives announced together, with a chief revenue officer and vice presidents of product and partnerships. Chief executive Ben Currin said at the time that their “leadership, experience, and passion will be invaluable as we continue to innovate”. Vantaca was founded in 2015 by Dave Sweyer and David Gunn on the belief that community management companies deserved software that worked for how they run their business. It has since repositioned itself around AI, including its HOAi agentic product. Arnett is now its Chief Operating Officer, although no announcement dates the change from his original title.
