Professional Journey
Gottula studied chemical engineering at the California Institute of Technology and has described his career as spent entirely in enterprise software development. He spent more than a decade at Advent Software, the San Francisco provider of portfolio accounting, trading and connectivity software to financial institutions. SEC filings show him as an executive officer there by November 2012, with the title Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, later given as Executive Vice President, Global Solutions Development and CTO. He stayed through Advent’s 2015 sale to SS&C Technologies for $2.7 billion.
The same year he co-founded Clarify Health Solutions. The premise, as the company now puts it, is that referral decisions influence roughly $2 trillion of US healthcare spending each year and that a meaningful share of them are suboptimal, with consequences for access, quality, outcomes and cost. Clarify’s answer was data at scale: under his technical leadership it assembled a longitudinal dataset of claims and outcomes covering more than 300 million lives, and built Meridian, which it describes as an outcomes service that helps health systems make better referral decisions while sharing risk on the results.
Through that period he was Clarify’s president; the company’s 2022 SEC filing was signed by Jean Drouin as chief executive. On 1 May 2026 the company announced that Gottula was stepping into the chief executive role and introduced a new senior team around him, including a chief operating officer, chief revenue officer, chief financial officer and chief technology officer. A month later, in June 2026, Clarify completed its acquisition of Loyal Health, whose care activation platform handles patient searches and real-time scheduling for health systems. Gottula described the logic as closing the loop: Clarify identifies where a patient should go, Loyal gets them there, and the combined platform measures whether it worked.
