Professional Journey
Zemetra started as an auditor in the Technology and Entertainment groups of PricewaterhouseCoopers. From 2000 to early 2008, according to Veritone’s filings, he held senior finance positions at several publicly traded SaaS, technology and digital media companies, which the filings do not name.
In May 2008 he joined Demand Media, the digital content company later renamed Leaf Group, as Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer, and stayed until June 2013. He then became Chief Financial Officer and Chief Accounting Officer of Global Eagle Entertainment, which provides in-flight entertainment and connectivity, and held the role until August 2016. After a short period as CFO and CIO of Bellami, a beauty products company, he spent a year as Vice President of Finance and divisional CFO of the Cloud Services Division at J2 Global. In April 2018 he became Executive Vice President and CFO of LiveXLive Media, a Nasdaq-listed digital media company.
Veritone appointed him Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer from 8 October 2020. The company describes itself as a provider of AI computing solutions built on aiWARE, a platform that runs machine learning models over large volumes of structured and unstructured data. During his tenure Veritone has sold its Veritone One advertising agency business to concentrate on its core software products and services.
In April 2026 Veritone’s management and audit committee concluded that its interim financial statements for the quarter ended 30 September 2025 should no longer be relied on, after identifying errors that included a revenue overstatement of about $2.2 million. In May 2026 a shareholder filed a putative securities class action naming the company, Steelberg and Zemetra, followed in June by a derivative action. Veritone’s August 2026 quarterly report describes both as at an early stage, with no lead plaintiff yet appointed. Zemetra continues to sign the company’s filings as its principal financial and accounting officer.
