Executive Summary

Meagen Eisenberg is Chief Marketing Officer of Samsara, the connected operations company whose sensors, cameras and cloud software instrument the physical side of business — fleets, equipment, worksites and the people who work on them. She joined in August 2024, reporting to co-founder and chief executive Sanjit Biswas, and leads the marketing and growth teams. She arrived with nearly 25 years in enterprise and SaaS technology and an unusually consistent pattern behind her: she has been the marketing chief who takes a fast-growing infrastructure company through its defining commercial transition. At MongoDB she built the go-to-market and growth engine across the years that carried the company to its 2017 initial public offering. At Navan, then trading as TripActions, she marketed corporate travel software. At Lacework she ran marketing, growth and sales development up to the cloud security company’s acquisition by Fortinet. Samsara is the first of these where the product is as much hardware as software.

Career Highlights

  • Appointed Chief Marketing Officer of Samsara in August 2024, leading the marketing and growth organisations and reporting to co-founder and chief executive Sanjit Biswas.
  • Served four years as Chief Marketing Officer of MongoDB from 2015, building the go-to-market and growth engine over the period that took the company public in 2017.
  • Led marketing, growth and sales development at Lacework as Chief Marketing Officer from 2022 until the company’s acquisition by Fortinet.
  • Was Chief Marketing Officer of Navan during its TripActions era, marketing corporate travel and expense software.
  • Held senior marketing leadership positions earlier at DocuSign, HP Enterprise and ArcSight — a run that spans electronic signature, enterprise infrastructure and security information management.
  • Maintains a portfolio of board and advisory seats alongside her operating roles, and is described by her employer as a board member as well as an executive.

Professional Journey

Eisenberg’s early career was spent in enterprise security and infrastructure marketing, in senior roles at ArcSight — the security information and event management company — and at HP Enterprise, which acquired ArcSight, before moving to DocuSign during its rise as the default electronic signature service. That sequence gave her both halves of what a modern enterprise marketing leader needs: the technical credibility of security and infrastructure, and the volume mechanics of a product sold at scale.

In March 2015 she became Chief Marketing Officer of MongoDB and stayed roughly four years. This is the part of her record that matters most, because MongoDB’s challenge in those years was not awareness — developers already knew the database — but converting a widely adopted open-source project into an enterprise commercial engine. She built the go-to-market and growth machinery for that conversion, and the company went public in 2017 during her tenure.

She then became Chief Marketing Officer of TripActions, now Navan, moving from developer infrastructure to a corporate travel and expense product with a very different buyer and a business that was reshaped mid-course by the pandemic’s effect on business travel. In November 2022 she moved to Lacework as Chief Marketing Officer, taking marketing, growth and sales development in a cloud security company operating in a crowded and rapidly consolidating market; Lacework was subsequently acquired by Fortinet.

Samsara announced her appointment on 22 August 2024 and she started the following week. Her own stated reason for joining was the company’s work on physical operations and the effect of that work on frontline workers — a marketing proposition unlike any of her previous ones, since Samsara’s customers are construction firms, utilities, fleets and public agencies rather than software buyers, and the product includes hardware installed in vehicles and on sites. She leads both marketing and growth, and continues to hold board and advisory seats alongside the operating role.
