Professional Journey

Harik studied engineering, computer and communications at the American University of Beirut and took a master’s in engineering and information technology at MIT. His early career was in software rather than transportation. He co-founded G3 Analyst as chief architect, building web and voice applications, then became Chief Technology Officer of the consultancy Tallan, Inc. From there he moved to Oakleaf Waste Management as Chief Information Officer and Senior Vice President of Research and Development — his first exposure to the economics of a route-and-network business, where the technology problem is fundamentally about scheduling physical assets.

He joined XPO in November 2011 as Chief Information Officer, at the beginning of the company’s transformation from a small freight brokerage into a large logistics group assembled through acquisition. Integrating dozens of acquired businesses onto a single technology platform, and choosing to build that platform in house rather than buy it, was the defining engineering decision of that period, and it is the one most associated with him. He held the CIO role for eleven years.

His shift into operating leadership happened quickly and in stages. In February 2021 he became Chief Customer Officer, and in October 2021 he was named President of the North American Less-Than-Truckload business — XPO’s core operation following its spin-offs of the contract logistics and brokerage businesses. Running LTL meant owning service centres, drivers, dock operations and pricing rather than systems, and it served as the proving ground for the larger job.

On 1 November 2022 he became Chief Executive Officer and joined the board, succeeding Brad Jacobs in the operating role, with a mandate centred on service quality, network expansion and yield improvement in the LTL business. He took on the chairmanship on 1 January 2026. Alongside XPO he has served since June 2024 on the board of QXO, Inc., and in 2026 he gave Northwestern University’s William A. Patterson Distinguished Transportation Lecture, speaking on technology and culture in the freight industry.
