Pritchard earned a BS in finance from Indiana University Bloomington and joined P&G on 17 May 1982 as a cost analyst in the Paper Division, according to the company. He held plant accounting, profit forecasting and financial analyst roles in the paper division and the comptroller’s division until 1988.
In 1988 he moved into marketing as assistant brand manager for Sure antiperspirant and deodorant, then brand manager for Secret, associate advertising manager for hair care and oral care, and marketing director for oral care. He became general manager for skin care products in 1994 and, after a special assignment on corporate IT strategy, vice president and general manager for cosmetic and fragrance products in the U.S. in 1996.
He led cosmetics as vice president for North America and Latin America and then globally, and in 2003 became president of Global Cosmetics and Personal Care, adding deodorants, Old Spice and retail hair colorants in 2004. In 2006 he became president of global strategy, productivity and growth. He was named global marketing officer in 2008, the year the 10-K records him as first elected an officer, global brand building officer in 2009 and chief brand officer in 2014.
He chairs the Association of National Advertisers, sits on the boards of Vital Voices and the Ad Council, of which he is a former chairman, and serves on the Dean’s Council of Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. P&G lists his induction into the American Marketing Association Hall of Fame in 2022 and the American Advertising Federation Hall of Fame in 2024. Procter & Gamble, based in Cincinnati, reported net sales of $87.0 billion for the fiscal year ended 30 June 2026, according to its 10-K.
