Professional Journey
Patel studied electrical and computer engineering at The University of Texas at Austin and worked at ExxonMobil, where he was Team Lead of Scientific Computing. He also holds an MBA in finance and strategy from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
In 2011 he co-founded SevenRooms in New York with Joel Montaniel, named in the company’s 2025 releases as Co-Founder and CEO, and Allison Page. In Montaniel’s words, they founded it “with a mission to help hospitality operators understand their guests and grow their business”. Its products span reservations and table management, marketing, operations and guest experience, all integrated with its CRM. As CTO, Patel led the engineering teams that built that platform. The company’s July 2019 SEC Form D lists all three founders as executive officers and directors.
Growth-equity firm PSG invested in 2020, when SevenRooms served about 2,000 venues; by 2025 it served more than 13,000, and in 2024 it acquired HeyPluto to add AI-driven personalised messaging. On 6 May 2025 DoorDash announced an agreement to acquire SevenRooms, adding its in-venue tools to DoorDash’s commerce platform for merchants. DoorDash completed the acquisition on 13 June 2025.
