Professional Journey
Rosenson studied rhetorical criticism at the University of Pittsburgh and went into the early commercial internet business in his home city. In 1994 he was a founding employee and director of Stargate.net, Inc., where his responsibilities included integrating the companies Stargate acquired and their day-to-day general management. He came into Expedient through its acquisition of Stargate.net; WQED’s biography of him dates his Expedient tenure from 2003.
At Expedient he took on the operational core of the business. The company credits him with oversight of its 24x7x365 support centre operations, service delivery, information systems, technical recruiting, IT compliance and marketing messaging, and he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Over that period Expedient grew from a regional connectivity provider into a data centre and cloud infrastructure company; its principal investor today is InfraBridge, part of DigitalBridge.
At the start of 2023 Expedient reorganised its leadership. Chief Strategy Officer Bryan Smith became CEO on 1 January, previous President and CEO Shawn McGorry became Chairman, and Rosenson was named President and Chief Operating Officer, which the company described as the most senior-level role in support of the new CEO, retaining his COO responsibilities. He continues to hold that title on the company’s executive team page. He is not listed on Expedient’s board. The company also notes that he was a member of VMware’s executive partner advisory board.
His civic work centres on Pittsburgh. He joined the board of WQED Multimedia, the city’s PBS affiliate, in 2018, building on five years of grant-making to the station through the Marcus L. Ruscitto Charitable Foundation, on whose board he has sat since 2004. That collaboration began with anti-bullying public service announcements on WQED and PBS KIDS and later moved into digital media projects for preschool and early elementary children. WQED now lists him as Chair of its board. He is a graduate of Leadership Pittsburgh’s Leadership Development Initiative (1999) and lives in the City of Pittsburgh.
