Professional Journey
Gustavson earned bachelor’s degrees in economics and international affairs at the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1994 and an MBA at the University of Texas at Austin in 1999, the year he joined Chevron. He worked in finance, mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning, supply and trading, investor relations and upstream, with assignments in the U.S., Canada, the UK and Venezuela.
He served as President of Chevron Canada and, from February 2018, as Vice President of the Mid-Continent Business Unit. In August 2021 he became President of Chevron New Energies.
