Executive Summary
Jeff Clarke is Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer of Dell Technologies, the executive who runs the company day to day. He directs both of its product businesses, the Infrastructure Solutions Group (servers, storage and networking, including AI systems) and the Client Solutions Group (PCs and peripherals), and manages global manufacturing, procurement and supply chain. He also sets long-term strategy for areas such as edge, telecom and as-a-service offerings. An electrical engineer, he joined Dell in 1987 as a quality engineer and has spent nearly four decades there. That arc is unusual at this scale: the person running operations at a company of about 100,000 people started on its factory-quality bench.

Professional Journey
Clarke earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1986 and worked as a reliability and product engineer at Motorola. He joined Dell in 1987 as a quality engineer and held engineering and management roles, becoming director of desktop development in 1995.
He moved into general management in 2001 as vice president and general manager of the Relationship Product Group, and from 2003 to 2009 ran the Business Product Group as senior vice president. In January 2009 he became vice chairman and president of operations and client solutions, the business that includes Dell’s PCs.
After the 2016 EMC combination his scope widened. He became chief operating officer in December 2019, shared the role as co-COO from August 2021 to August 2023, and has been sole COO again since then. In that role he directs the Infrastructure Solutions Group and the Client Solutions Group, runs global operations from manufacturing to supply chain, and leads planning for cloud, edge, telecom and as-a-service. Dell credits him with the transformations behind its leading worldwide share positions in many core infrastructure and PC products.
He works alongside founder and CEO Michael Dell, chief financial officer David Kennedy and the sales leaders Bill Scannell and Pete Trizzino. Outside Dell he serves on the College of Engineering Advisory Council at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Dell’s fiscal 2026 annual report lists him second among its eight executive officers, after Michael Dell, and an October 2025 filing records a one-time performance-based stock option award made to him as chief operating officer and vice chairman.
