Professional Journey
Cadman’s career has stayed within one specialist field: software for mapping and managing physical networks. In his own account, he started in about 1990 at Smallworld in the UK, “when we very first started building geospatial systems”. In 1993 he moved to the United States with a couple of colleagues to open Smallworld’s US office. He remained through the company’s public listing in 1997 and its sale to GE in 2000.
He then left and joined a group of people building Ubisense, which, as he puts it, “morphed into” IQGeo. IQGeo’s own materials refer to the company as “IQGeo (then Ubisense)”. Over that time IQGeo narrowed its focus to network operators in telecoms and utilities. In his words, “We specialize. We don’t try and do everything for everyone. We work with complex networks.” His company biography says he has led market entry and expansion in telecommunications, utilities, manufacturing, aerospace and military markets, and has built sales organisations in North America, Europe and Asia.
At IQGeo he held the title SVP Americas, and an industry-press contributor bio also describes him as SVP Enterprise. He is now Chief Revenue Officer. No announcement dates the promotion. He holds the role under the company’s new ownership: KKR completed its acquisition of IQGeo on 24 September 2024 for £333 million, ending its AIM listing, and IQGeo says KKR and Kestrel Partners are “making significant investments to further accelerate” its growth.
