Professional Journey

Marsh trained as a lawyer, earning a Juris Doctorate from George Washington University after a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Political Science at Georgetown University. He became a partner at Gardner, Carton & Douglas in Chicago, a firm now part of Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath, and acted as outside legal counsel to Gartland Whalley and Barker plc, a UK-based private equity firm. He then moved across to join Gartland Whalley and Barker as a private equity executive.

That route led him to Rollease Acmeda, which he joined as a director in 1998. He was named CEO in 2005. The company, established in 1980 and headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut, describes itself as the largest independent engineered component and systems manufacturer and distributor in the window covering industry. Its brands include Automate smart shading, Zipscreen outdoor shades, Texstyle specialty fabrics and Rollease Acmeda indoor and outdoor hardware systems. JM Family now puts its workforce at close to 300 associates, with eight distribution facilities across the United States, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand.

In September 2022 JM Family Enterprises, founded by Jim Moran in 1968 and whose companies include Southeast Toyota Distributors, announced that it had acquired Rollease Acmeda as part of its JM Family Holdings growth strategy. Marsh called it “a proud moment for the entire team at Rollease Acmeda, validating the incredible amount of effort and skill invested in building a market-leading franchise in our industry.” He has continued as CEO under JM Family ownership.

Within the industry, Marsh has served on the executive committee of the Window Covering Manufacturers Association for more than ten years, where his principal function has been to lead efforts to develop safety standards for corded window coverings. He also served on the board of directors of the Window Covering Association of America, which represents smaller window covering manufacturers and designers. He lives in Delray Beach, Florida.
