Executive Summary

David Nicoll is Chief Executive Officer of SANY America, the North American business of the Chinese construction equipment manufacturer SANY, headquartered in Peachtree City, Georgia. He took the role in August 2024, coming from Caterpillar, where he had been Vice President for Earthmoving Wheel Loaders. He runs a business built on independent dealers, and his stated priority on arrival was growing the SANY brand through them.

Career Highlights

  • Appointed Chief Executive Officer of SANY America, effective 8 August 2024.
  • Previously a Caterpillar Vice President for Earthmoving Wheel Loaders.
  • Presided over SANY America’s 20th-anniversary announcements at ConExpo-Con/AGG 2026: the launch of SANY Finance, an authorized remanufactured-components programme, SANY-branded attachments, and a certified pre-owned programme.
  • Represented the company at the opening of new dealer locations, including SANY of Pennsauken in July 2025.

Professional Journey

Nicoll’s most recent role before SANY was at Caterpillar, where he was Vice President for Earthmoving Wheel Loaders. SANY America announced on 29 July 2024 that he would become its Chief Executive Officer from 8 August 2024, with Fei Xiang continuing as Chairman. On taking the job he said the company would be “investing in strategies to grow the SANY brand and partner with our Dealers to offer powerful, productive and reliable machines.”

SANY America began operating in North America in 2006 and is based on a 230-acre campus in Peachtree City, Georgia, with a further facility in Canada. It employs more than 300 people and sells through more than 75 North American-owned dealerships. SANY ranks sixth on the KHL Yellow Table of global heavy equipment manufacturers, according to the company.

Nicoll’s time in charge has been marked by the expansion of that dealer network and by moves to make the brand easier to buy and own. In March 2026, at the ConExpo-Con/AGG trade show, SANY America marked twenty years in North America by launching SANY Finance, a direct financing offer for customers and dealers, alongside programmes for remanufactured components, branded attachments such as buckets, couplers and hydraulic hammers, and certified pre-owned equipment. “Twenty years ago, SANY made a commitment to the American market, to invest here, build here and stand behind every machine we sell,” he said.
