Professional Journey

Flavell earned an honours degree in law and a Bachelor of Economics at Monash University in Australia and is admitted to practice in Victoria. He spent the first ten years of his career at Corrs Chambers Westgarth, becoming a corporate and antitrust partner in Melbourne, then served as senior legal counsel at Fonterra Co-operative Group and as general counsel for Danone’s Asia Pacific and Middle East business.

He joined PepsiCo in 2011, based in Dubai, as senior vice president and general counsel for Asia, the Middle East and Africa. From 2015 he was general counsel for Latin America and Frito-Lay North America, adding the deputy general counsel title in 2016, and in 2017 became general counsel for the international and global groups.

He was deputy general counsel and managing attorney from 2018, and from 2019 to 2021 deputy general counsel and global chief compliance and ethics officer, overseeing central legal teams and PepsiCo’s compliance and ethics program. PepsiCo says he has also led the legal side of many of its significant acquisitions.

In March 2021 he became executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. PepsiCo sells food and beverages in more than 200 countries and territories through six reportable segments and employed about 306,000 people at the end of 2025, according to its annual report. He serves on the boards of the PepsiCo Foundation and the Pro Bono Partnership, is a member of the New York State Council of Business Leaders in Support of Access to Justice and the Association of General Counsel, and previously sat on the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Transparency and Anti-Corruption.
