Executive Summary

Dan Huscher is Chief Operating Officer and Head of Product at Lukka, the New York company that supplies crypto asset data, pricing, blockchain analytics and accounting software to financial institutions, auditors and exchanges. He is a financial data specialist rather than a crypto native: he spent 16 years at IHS Markit building pricing and reference data products for traditional markets before joining Lukka in 2021 to run its data business. His career at Lukka has followed that thread, from Head of Data and Analytics to Chief Data Products Officer and then to the operating role, and his public statements focus on the same problem, making digital asset data reliable enough for regulated institutions.

Career Highlights

  • Chief Operating Officer and Head of Product at Lukka, speaking for the company on pricing, compliance and blockchain analytics partnerships in 2026.
  • Joined Lukka in May 2021 as Head of Data and Analytics, responsible for the development, delivery and growth of its crypto asset data business.
  • Served as Lukka’s Chief Data Products Officer, including when Lukka Prime received an IOSCO statement of adherence following a Big 4 accounting firm review in 2023.
  • Led product development for IHS Markit’s pricing and reference data business and data strategy for its global markets group, as a managing director in the financial markets division.
  • Served in the United States Army before starting his financial data career in 2005.

Professional Journey

Huscher served in the United States Army before joining IHS Markit in 2005. Over 16 years there he rose to managing director in the financial markets division, where he was Head of Product Development for the pricing and reference data business and Head of Data Strategy for the global markets group. Lukka’s 2021 announcement described that pricing and reference data unit as one of the fastest-growing businesses within IHS Markit’s $1.7 billion Financial Services division.

He moved to Lukka in May 2021 as Head of Data and Analytics. Chief executive Robert Materazzi said at the time that Huscher would lead Lukka’s data products and help it scale faster while managing risk. Huscher framed the move as a continuation of his career: the demand for institutional-grade data that he had seen grow in traditional finance, he said, would follow in crypto assets, where decentralised markets make consistent pricing and reference data harder to produce.

At Lukka he became Chief Data Products Officer, the title under which he announced the company’s IOSCO statement of adherence for Lukka Prime, its pricing methodology, in May 2023, and client agreements such as Penguin Securities in late 2024. By 2026 Lukka’s releases name him Chief Operating Officer and Head of Product. In that role he has spoken for the company on pricing for Canton Coin under the Canton Network’s CIP-0079, on extending Lukka’s entity attribution and AML monitoring to Bitcoin networks with Blockstream, on attribution data supplied to Hypernative, and on pricing infrastructure for a Bitcoin-backed municipal bond structured with BitGo.

Lukka, founded in 2014, offers enterprise data management, blockchain analytics, compliance tools, pricing data, benchmarks and valuation services, and has extended its analytics and compliance offering through the acquisition of Coinfirm.
