Professional Journey
Ferguson began his career at EMC Corporation, where Vestmark says he held progressively senior roles in internal audit, investor relations and global revenue operations. He then spent eight years at Cisco Systems leading strategy and planning at both corporate and business unit level, including in cybersecurity and service provider operations. At Cisco he worked across engineering, finance, marketing and sales on product transitions, scaling operations and M&A. His title there included director of strategy, operations and investor relations.
He joined Vestmark in 2018 as vice president of financial planning and analysis and investor relations. Vestmark sells portfolio management, trading and advisory technology to wealth managers. Ferguson worked on the company’s long-range strategic planning, forecasting, budgeting and cost control, then moved into a strategy role as executive vice president. Vestmark’s 2022 announcement described that role as covering corporate strategy and marketing. In it he led corporate and go-to-market planning across the business lines.
In July 2022 Vestmark named him Chief Financial Officer, leading Finance and Corporate Strategy and reporting to then-CEO Mike Blundin. Vestmark’s leadership has changed since then. Karl Roessner is now chief executive and Blundin is President and Chief Operating Officer. Ferguson remains CFO, with a remit that now also covers Accounting and Investor Relations. Vestmark describes his approach as treating finance as a strategic partner to the business.
Outside work, Vestmark’s biography says he spends most of his time with family: he coaches his two sons in basketball and baseball, travels and enjoys live music.
