Knaack arrives from a different data market: he became CEO of Preqin, the private markets data provider, in 2022 and was in the role when BlackRock agreed in June 2024 to buy it for £2.55 billion (about $3.2 billion), a deal completed in March 2025.

  • Chief Executive Officer of Preqin from 1 January 2022, succeeding founder Mark O’Hare.
  • CEO of Preqin when BlackRock agreed to acquire it in June 2024 for total consideration of £2.55 billion and completed in March 2025.
  • Joined Preqin in 2020 as Chief Strategy & Product Officer.

Professional Journey

Before Preqin, Knaack worked in investment banking at Morgan Stanley, at the private equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and at the hedge fund Davidson Kempner. The sources reviewed do not give dates or titles for these roles.

He joined Preqin, the provider of alternative assets data, in 2020 as Chief Strategy & Product Officer. In November 2021 the company announced that he would succeed its founder, Mark O’Hare, as CEO from 1 January 2022, with O’Hare remaining on the board. “Private markets are evolving, and so is Preqin, and I am very excited about the opportunities,” Knaack said at the time.

In June 2024 BlackRock agreed to acquire 100% of Preqin for £2.55 billion, or approximately $3.2 billion, in cash, describing it as a strategic expansion of its Aladdin technology business into private markets data; Preqin brought more than 4,000 client relationships. “I am incredibly excited about the opportunities this next phase of growth, together with BlackRock, promises our customers and our employees,” Knaack said. The acquisition closed in March 2025.

In February 2026 LOGEX named him Chief Executive Officer as part of a wider change to its Executive Committee, which also brought in a new chief revenue officer, chief product officer, chief human resources officer and chief customer officer. “Healthcare systems are under immense pressure to be affordable, accessible and of the highest quality,” he said. “I could not be more excited about the role at LOGEX and the opportunity ahead of us supporting the healthcare industry with the best data and insights.” LOGEX says it has more than 400 staff and a presence in nine European countries.
