Professional Journey

Nicholas earned a BSc with Honours in management science at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology and qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant. He spent more than 20 years in retail across nine countries, in senior roles at Tesco, The Salling Group and Coles Group, where he contributed to the transformation of Australia’s supermarket sector.

He joined Walmart in 2018 as Deputy Chief Financial Officer. In January 2020 he became Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Walmart International, and in February 2021 CFO of Walmart U.S. In October 2021 he moved into operations as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Walmart U.S., overseeing store operations and supply chain.

In September 2023 he became President and CEO of Sam’s Club U.S. In February 2026, as John Furner took over as Walmart’s chief executive, Nicholas moved to lead Walmart International and Latriece Watkins succeeded him at Sam’s Club.
